Acharya Sherab Gyaltsen Negi was the resident teacher at Nalandabodhi Seattle through 2002, when he took a temporary leave to complete a three-year retreat.
Acharya Sherab Gyaltsen Negi was born in Kinnaur, in Northern India. At an early age, he began studying dharma with a local master at the monastery and spent many years studying and practicing with his brother. He joined the Central Institute for Higher Tibetan studies and later on Karma Shri Nalanda Institute (the nine year Kagyu shedra, or monastic college). There, he excelled in his studies under some of the greatest living scholars in the Kagyu lineage, graduating as an acharya and karapjampa. He continued to teach at Karma Shri Nalanda Institute after graduating.
Acharya-la has been a featured teacher at Nitartha Institute and the Nalandabodhi annual retreat. Known for his engaging and energetic style, and thorough knowledge and experience of the teachings, he has been a wonderful resource for study and practice, and will no doubt be an even more amazing resource after he returns from three-year retreat.
