Nalandabodhi Membership

The Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche has established an integrated program for his students who are Nalandabodhi members, which

  1. provides a curriculum of study and practice along with appropriate text books and materials;
  2. makes available appropriate oral commentaries of important contemporary teachers;
  3. supports the translation and publication of religious texts by significant historic teachers, and
  4. enables communication between western and international Buddhist sanghas.

Nalandabodhi members are committed to creating a genuine link between the great and profound spiritual traditions of Tibetan Buddhism and our contemporary societal and personal paths.  In pursuit of this vision, members of Nalandabodhi participate in the following Nalandabodhi facilities and benefits:

Study and Practice Curriculum:

The Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche has designed a special curriculum designed to preserve and integrate the transformative traditions of Tibetan Buddhism into our modern environment, making sure that their living essence of wisdom and compassion remain intact. Classes and extensive study materials are available at all Nalandabodhi centers. We also recognize that many students who wish to develop their personal study and practice do not have access to a dharma center or do not wish to regularly attend formal teachings or other practice programs.Written materials are now available. Plans are in the work for on-line materials to permit students to participate in study and practice on an individual basis and for students, wherever located, to be able to follow an authentic, in-depth course of study and practice when the support of a center is not available.

Nalandabodhi Practice Handbooks:

This series of books provides a sequential compilation of teachings by Rinpoche beginning with the Refuge Vow and progressing through the complete path, including Mahamudra and Dzogchen teachings. The first edition of Volumes I and II have been distributed, and a second edition is being readied for publication.

Other Publications:

Many projects are underway to transcribe, edit and publish the religious and educational teachings of the Dzogchen Ponlop, Rinpoche and other major contemporary lineage holders of the Nyingma and Kagyu traditions such as Khenpo Tsultrim Gyamtso and Venerable Thrangu Rinpoche.

Translations:

Rinpoche works with numerous translators to provide accurate and literal translations of classical religious texts by historic Buddhist teachers.

Bodhi Magazine

This magazine provides teachings from the Karmapa, Khenpo Tsultrim Gyamtso Rinpoche, Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche,  and others, periodic information on the activities of Nalandabodhi, the teaching schedules, dharma teachings, sangha news and Rinpoche's other projects.

Buddhist Ritual and Ceremony:

Members will find a rich supply of English-language liturgies and ceremonies for major life events such as weddings and funerals and ordination of Buddhist chaplains, explicitly designed by The Dzogchen Ponlop, Rinpoche for modern audiences.

Bodhi Heart: the Tibetan Refugee Support Project:

Nalandabodhi sponsors Tibetan refugee monks and nuns living in India and Nepal; provides direct support for education, retreat periods and medical needs. The program also sponsors the education of disadvantaged young Tibetan children.
